Butter Croissant

Our butter croissants are light and flaky, rich and buttery and have an open honeycomb interior, perfect alone with some jam or as a base for sandwiches. We only use high fat, European style cultured butter for layering the dough. Not only does this result in a flakier croissant, but it also adds excellent flavor to the final product.

Chocolate Croissant

Our chocolate croissants are made using our handmade, European style croissant dough. We fold the dough around two extra large bittersweet chocolate batons to ensure there is some chocolate in every bite. Serve room temperature or warm it up to melt the chocolate.

Twice Baked Almond Croissant

Twice baked croissants areour most decadent croissants. Based ona butter croissant that has been cut in half, toasted and brushed with a light vanilla syrup, it is then filled with almond frangipane, topped with almond frangipane and sliced almonds and baked again. The result is an almond croissant that is crisper on the outside, tender on the inside, and nutty all around!

Traditional Kouign Amann

Starter Bakery was born alongside its introduction of Kouign Amann to the Bay Area and beyond in 2010. It's similar to a croissant but is made with salted butter and layered with sugar. Additionally, the pans are brushed with butter and coated in sugar before they are baked to give them their caramel crust. These are traditionally a breakfast pastry but can also be enjoyed for dessert.

Chocolate Kouign Amann

OurKouign Amann is made in the traditional way, rich in salted butter with notes of salted caramel. The chocolate variety is filled with bittersweet Guittard couverture. It is a buttery, flavorful experience on its own, much more than just a sweet croissant!

Bittersweet Chocolate Chip Cookie

Our bittersweet chocolate cookie is a thorough rework of our former chocolate chunk cookie. The cookie dough has been reformulated to have a blend of wheat and whole wheat flour, a softer, yet denser texture plenty of chocolate and a background note of salted caramel. We feature a blend of Guittard's 72% couverture and 63% bittersweet chips for an indulgent chocolate experience.
